Time to head down under, but at least we’ll be heading down under in style and in the company of one of the finest Burlesque performers in recent years, Dita Von Teese. Now Von Teese has hit the headlines in Australia as she has outlawed skinny models in favour of the fuller figured girl to model her Von Follies range of lingerie.
“We gave a lot of models the axe for being too skinny… It’s important to me [that] we show curvaceous women and fuller-figured girls… Lingerie looks terrific on girls with shape.”
Now that is definitely something we have to agree with, and from the look of the models she made the right decision, and when Von Teese slips into some of her own range it just begs the question when will they be released over here? At this stage they are only available in Australian Target stores and online, but they expect to expand into other countries.
Von Teese’s Von Folliesrange will hark back to a vintage age and is based on her own collection of vintage underwear, “There are so many vintage lingerie pieces I love that I haven’t been able to find in all my years of collecting. I wanted to design pieces that are tributes to my vintage obsessions, to make them beautiful and functional, while modernising them for everyday wear.”
